Physical disability care

Personalised support for people with a temporary or lifelong physical disability, promoting independence, dignity and wellbeing.

Disability under the Equality Act 2010

You are disabled under the Equality Act 2010 if you have a physical or mental impairment that has a substantial and long-term negative effect on your ability to do normal daily activities. Substantial means more than minor or trivial, for example taking much longer than usual to get dressed. Long-term means 12 months or more.

A progressive condition, one that gets worse over time, can count as a disability. You meet the definition from the day you are diagnosed with HIV, cancer or multiple sclerosis.
