Sensory impairment care

Care from workers who understand sight loss, hearing loss and dual sensory loss, so you can live safely and confidently.

What is sensory impairment?

Sensory impairment is when one or more of the senses, such as sight, hearing, smell, touch, taste or spatial awareness, no longer works as it should. It is often overlooked because it cannot always be seen.

Some people are more likely to be affected, including older people, people with a learning disability and frail adults. Some people have more than one impairment, such as combined sight and hearing loss, known as dual sensory loss or deafblindness.
